Artist Statement

Alma Tapatia exists to promote Mexican culture throughout Kansas City and beyond by offering dance classes to anyone interested in dance and by performing in all types of spaces. Our performances showcase a variety of regions and cultures that exist within Mexico. We bring life and color to everything we do!

The Convivencia of This Performance

Our performance will relate to “convivencia” by mixing a variety of regions in one show. There is a lot of rich culture throughout Mexico that can vary from state to state and even within each state. These differences can be seen in our attire, music, and footwork. We are also a style of dance that is not always represented in traditional dance spaces, but we strive to push those bounds and exist in all spaces where dance is showcased.
