Artist Statement

“A propulsive emcee, a bold songwriter, a skilled trombonist, an auspicious producer and an enterprising artist.” – 90.9 The Bridge

Hailing from Kansas City, MO by way of Bromley, AL, Kadesh Flow is a rapper with an MBA & a trombone Super Saiyan. His wide reaching content hops from socioeconomic musings to life bars that are laced with anime and video game references, some of which have led to opportunities with outlets like Toonami, as well as various feature film projects. Desh has recorded as a studio trombonist with artists like Jidenna and boasts performances supporting artists such as Janelle Monae, Dave East, Rakim, Kool and the Gang, Trombone Shorty, The Revivalists, Tech N9ne, Naughty by Nature, and numerous other prolific acts. Kadesh is a member of the NPC (Nerdy People of Color) Collective, through which he is working to foster more representation for underrepresented and marginalized groups in “nerd” and “geek” spaces via performance, public speaking, and social engagement.

The Convivencia of This Performance

Improvisation in live musical performance actively demonstrates convivencia by exploring differing ideas,

blending them, generating conflict and resolving tension. It also depends on trust and openness among musicians. I plan to perform a less structured, more improvisational set with my band, the Deshtet. I’ll also perform songs that have lyrical content pertaining to accepting difference, social justice, and togetherness during our sets.
