The History Vendor
The History Vendor is a participatory art installation using iconic vending machines to freely dispense historic photographs and stories of the area surrounding City Market Park. Providing a map and delivering the photographs through a machine closely associated with childhood encourages an element of play and youthful adventure as participants hunt for the site of the original photographs. Bio
Kansas City-based artist, Chris Dahlquist learned to use a camera and darkroom as she was learning to ride a bicycle and write in cursive. Originally from Fort Worth, she wrote her first artist statement on a Big Chief tablet in phonetic Texan, claiming for herself a life of travel and “tacking pitchers”. She has held a camera in her hands ever since.
